Ashley and Nick’s Duluth, Minnesota Fall Elopement was such a beautiful testament to their love, patience, and grace both for each other, and for the state of the world these past few years. This sweet couple said “I do” at a courthouse in Tennessee (where they currently reside). Duluth and the surrounding areas used to be home to them, so they were so eager to have their elopement on the North Shore in October of 2021.
Ashley and Nick’s closest friends and immediate family flew accompanied them in Duluth to celebrate the happy couple. Their “tagline” for the day was “nothing fancy, just love.” Their entire day was such a dream. After they got ready in their Airbnb, they had their first look on a private beach along Lake Superior. One of my favorite details of the day were the sparkly boots that Ashley wore. However, if you know me, you know that her Hunter boots she changed into were more my style 😉
Once we had wrapped up some early afternoon romantics, we headed to their ceremony space at Bailey Builds Gallery in downtown Duluth. Like any wedding day, not everything went to plan. Not only did we get stuck at the lift bridge for 20 minutes as a ship headed into the harbor, but the gallery was locked when we arrived! Ashley and Nick were so calm, and were more than happy to go with the flow. The plus side to being locked out of the venue? We ate Jimmy John’s in the parking lot while we waited. Talk about GOALS. *This is your reminder that you can do WHATEVER you want on your elopement day.*
As we headed back to Ashley and Nick’s Airbnb, we took a detour to Quarry Park for some more couple’s portraits. After snapping some sweet moments, we headed to the same private beach to catch the sunset and capture their private vow reading and first dance. They danced to “Endlessly” by The Cab underneath a bright yellow-leaf tree… After their first dance, they did rock-paper-scissors to decide who was going to read their vows first; Ashley lost. I mean, if you aren’t doing rock-paper-scissors to decide who gets to cry first, is it even love?! 😉 As they read their vows, the most glorious sunset spread across the sky as the trees witnessed the love of Ashley and Nick.
I truly can’t express how sweet and intentional Ashley and Nick’s Duluth, Minnesota Fall Elopement was to witness. Duluth has played such a huge role in my life; I will forever hold a special place in my heart for all the memories made in this sweet city. Believe it or not… an even bigger piece of my heart is dedicated to all the sweet couples I have had the honor to serve.
