Recapping The Best of 2022
2022… what a year, amiright?! I can’t possibly wrap my mind around the fact that we are already in the first week of 2023. There’s something so special about setting aside time to reflect and reminisce on what the prior year gave to you. So first and foremost, if you’ve not done so yet, I want to encourage you to take a half hour to reflect on 2022. As I’m writing this, I’ve now settled into my new apartment in a new state with the love of my life (who I will finally be able to call my husband this year). So while I’m deep in my feels, I thought it would be a great time to work on recapping the best of 2022. Let’s get into it.
Before I really dive into accomplishments and lessons learned throughout 2022, I first want to thank my incredible, beautiful couples who made this past year as monumental as it was. Without a doubt, I would not be here if it wasn’t for you. Your support and trust in me has taken me to places I only ever dreamed of. Your adventurous souls have taken me from the desert to the mountaintops. From the Pacific to the Atlantic. From the plains to the forests. *Ahem; insert “I’ve Been Everywhere” here* But honestly, I wouldn’t be living in my dream state if it wasn’t for each and everyone of you incredible people. You’ve shown me a lifetime of friendships, adventures, and love. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Recapping 2022’s Adventures
January: Rang in 2022 in Minnesota.
February: Traveled to Idaho to put finishing touches on Catalyst Content Days. Had a girls weekend with Laura (Laura Minor Photography), and captured photos of a sweet couple on their honeymoon in Colorado.
March: Enjoyed a calm, peaceful month with one wedding in Minnesota.
April: Traveled to the Washington coast and lived in a van for a week and a half with my honey.
May: Hosted my first photography workshop with Laura (Catalyst Content Days) in California. Headed to Montana for work.
June: Began my month in Montana and then had my busiest month of the year with a few double-headers.
July: Turned 23🎉 Traveled back to Montana for an elopement, and then up to Alaska for vacation.
August: GOT ENGAGED💍 in Alaska. Headed up to the North Shore in Minnesota for an elopement. Got to actually be in a wedding, and captured an adventurous couple’s session in Maine.
September: Traveled back and forth to Montana twice for 3 elopements (and slowly moving our stuff across the country).
October: Enjoyed the Fall weather in Minnesota and traveled to Chicago with some friends.
November: Slowed down for the holidays and had a team member wedding.
December: The SBP team shot one final wedding of 2022 and I visited Laura Minor Photography in California (yes, we did go to Harry Potter World). Finally, my fiancé and I moved everything into our sweet apartment in Montana.
Personal and Business Highlights of 2022
What I Learned
- Work-Life Balance is achievable.
- There is nothing more freeing than setting boundaries.
- Booking clients that are “your people” makes you feel so fulfilled every single day.
- Time with family + friends is irreplacable.
- It’s easier to block off time + say “no” to work, than feel guilty about missing out on valuable time with your people later.
What I Accomplished
- Co-hosted my first content day/workshop (Catalyst Content Days) with my friend Laura.
- Booked shoots in multiple states.
- Moved my business across the country.
- Fully transitioned my business to adventure elopements and intimate weddings.
- The biggest of them all: planned our dream elopement alongside all of my awesome couples.

Wrapping Up 2022
Having had the chance to recap 2022 fills my heart to the absolute brim. To the other lovely couples who I had the honor of working with, outside of a wedding or elopement, thank you. If you don’t know what it’s like to live out your dream, let me tell you: it’s the freaking BEST. I hope that 2023 brings you so much happiness, love, and joy.
