As a Montana elopement photographer, it’s not too often that I have the opportunity to photograph a couple’s engagement photos (and then their special day later on). If you didn’t know, many couples that choose to elope opt out of engagement photos. But Josie and Bobby traveled out to Montana early last Spring for some engagement photos in Bozeman. Flash forward months later, and I had the honor of photographing their Livingston, Montana western chic destination wedding. Josie and Bobby’s summer nuptials were such a true reflection of them as a couple, and I loved every second of their day.
Josie and Bobby’s day began with getting ready at the dreamy Yellowstone Valley Lodge. With stunning views of the Absaroka Mountain Range, we were absolutely spoiled with the blue skies, fluffy clouds, and sunshine. The ceremony space alone had me so excited for all that was in store. Nestled next to the picturesque Yellowstone River, I felt like I was living in a scene of a romantic Western (without the gunfights and such, of course).
Having photographed well over 100 weddings in my day, I am no stranger to a country wedding – but I’ve never witnessed it done so tastefully. From Josie’s elegant satin a-line gown, dreamy white cowboy boots, to her peachy florals adorned with pampas grass and greenery. And Bobby’s brown suit and classic cowboy hat!? This couple looked flawless. But as beautiful as Josie and Bobby looked, I couldn’t get over just how seamlessly they fit together. They’re just one of those couples that always seems to be laughing and full of nothing but pure joy for one another. However, let it be known that they definitely had me tearing up during their private vows (surprise, surprise).
After their first look and private vow exchange, we knocked out bridal party and family portraits. And no bridal party photos would be complete without Fireball shots, right?! But my favorite part of Josie and Bobby’s Western chic destination wedding was actually their ceremony. As they placed rings on each other’s fingers, the sun peeked out from behind the clouds, and blanketed us all in glorious sunshine. It was at that moment that I couldn’t wrap my head around being in such a picturesque place, witnessing a couple’s “best day ever”, doing my job.
The rest of the evening was spent celebrating in the only way a cowboy knows how to do! Swing-dancing, cocktails, and sunset portraits among the mountains… Have I mentioned lately how much I love what I do? 😉
