I am such a sucker for a “friends first” love story. While I may be biased (looking at you, husband), the journey from friends to partners for life is just really beautiful. Sara and August’s love story is no exception! Learning about their sweet friendship growing into a marriage still gives me chills. Their Sun Point elopement in Glacier National Park was such a sweet way to celebrate the best chapter of their story.
Sara and August first met during their freshman year of college at Marquette University, where they were both members of the NROTC (Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps). Despite the pandemic, nothing could get in the way of their love (not even thousands of miles of distance). Now, both college graduates, commissioned with the Navy, and MARRIED (!!!) they finally get the chance to spend forever together. Sara and August are just one of those couples that you know are best friends. Their Glacier National Park elopement proved exactly that.
Both avid travelers and adventurers, Sara and August traveled to Bigfork, Montana to tie the knot surrounded by their core group of people. Their elopement day began with a first look on their Airbnb’s patio, before heading into Glacier National Park for their intimate ceremony at Sun Point. Just as the name implies, we were blanketed in warm sunshine as Sara walked down the cliffside to meet August. One of my favorite parts of their day was the live acoustic guitar playing throughout the ceremony.
After Sara and August’s “I do’s” were said, we spent some time taking portraits around the Park. Family and friends headed back to Bigfork to prepare for an intimate dinner at the Airbnb. Despite having a Saturday elopement (which is typically a busy day in the Park), we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.
Once we wrapped up taking bridal portraits, we headed back to Bigfork to enjoy their intimate family dinner. But no wedding would be complete without a classic cake smash, would it!? Like I said, you can 100% tell that Sara and August are best friends. 😉
Photographing Sara and August’s Sun Point elopement in Glacier National Park was such a joy to be a part of. It’s always so surreal to meet couples from across the country, who trust me to document such an integral part of their love story.
