If there’s one thing that’s for certain, it’s that the weather in Montana is unpredictable. When Texas-natives Karlee and Tim planned their late Spring elopement in Glacier National Park, they knew the weather would be a gamble. With their only request being they didn’t have to wear a parka and snow boots, the wheels were in motion to help bring their intimate mountain elopement visions to life. Despite the gloomy skies overhead, and cold mountain wind whipping through the park, the sunshine made its appearance for a magical sunset to wrap up Karlee and Tim’s late Spring Pray Lake elopement.
There’s just something so special about a couple whose love story goes way back. While I might be a little biased since my own love story spans back to the days of high school, the love and commitment spanning through many seasons of life is simply beautiful. Karlee and Tim fell in love when they were just two teenagers at fish camp in Texas. And while it took them a couple of years to start dating, once they were hooked, the rest was history! (Get it…hooked?? 😉) Now, these lovers are coming up on 8 years together and are building such a sweet life together.
Like many couples eloping in Glacier National Park, Karlee and Tim were first-time visitors to the area. As a Montana elopement photographer and full-service elopement planner, it is my top priority to ensure that each couple gets to truly enjoy their elopement. This looks like designing a day that checks all of their boxes. For Karlee and Tim, they knew they wanted to spend their elopement morning just as a couple before parting ways to get ready with their closest people. They also wanted their first look to take place during their ceremony, along the shores of a lake, with snowcapped mountains and towering pines in tow.
In the beginning stages of planning Karlee and Tim’s early Spring elopement, we toyed around with different ceremony locations and even considered incorporating some activities. Before we knew it, their timeline came together seamlessly and their day arrived. On the morning of their late Spring Pray Lake elopement, Karlee and Tim got ready in separate cabins with their loved ones.
Everyone traveled to the ceremony location at Pray Lake where Tim turned to see his bride waiting for him at the end of the aisle. It’s safe to say that Tim had the reaction that every girl ever hopes her groom will have to seeing her for the first time! His beaming smile shifted to bashfulness before tearing up as his grandfather officiated their ceremony. With the iconic snowcapped Sinopah Mountain perched across Pray Lake, surrounded by towering pines, Karlee and Tim said “I do” surrounded by their loved ones.
The rest of the afternoon and early evening were spent taking in breathtaking views at Two Medicine Overlook, where the golden sunshine finally made its long-awaited appearance. Karlee and Tim’s evening wrapped up with them cutting their cake beneath the Silver Staircase Waterfall.
One of my favorite parts of being an elopement photographer (and planner), is getting to finally see my couples’ visions come to life. When I sit down to write these blogs, I spend time revisiting the initial inquiries, reading my old notes, and carefully selecting photos that best represent my couples. For Karlee and Tim’s elopement, it was surreal to read about the wedding they were imagining, only to then witness it coming to fruition. Have I mentioned lately how much I love my job!?
