Glacier National Park Honeymoon Bridal Session

This is your sign to head to the mountains with your wedding attire in tow for some dreamy bridal portraits. Lacey and David traveled to Glacier National Park for their honeymoon, and decided to don their wedding attire one more time among the fireweed and towering pines. The immaculate views that this Kentucky couple was dreaming of came to fruition and couldn’t have been more picturesque.

Adding a bridal session onto a honeymoon itinerary is a must-do for any couple who wants the “best of both worlds”. While Lacey and David initially envisioned eloping, they ended up opting for an intimate ceremony back home. But rather than leaving their dreams behind, they decided to pack their wedding attire for their honeymoon in Glacier National Park.

Lacey and David met while working at a Kentucky state park. As fate would have it, they were both called to a mandatory meeting. When Lacey spotted David’s bright red hair, she plopped down next to him (after thinking how cute he was, of course). And the rest is history! Documenting their honeymoon, with them donned in their wedding attire, was pure bliss. I was so happy to have the opportunity to help bring one of their visions to life.

As a Montana elopement photographer (and elopement planner), adventuring through the mountains with madly in-love couples never gets old. So if you’ve been toying around with the idea of honeymoon photos or a bridal session, I’m here to give you some tips on combining the two to create a lifetime of memories to cherish. No matter what you envision for your own honeymoon in the mountains, the possibilities are endless.

What is a Bridal Session?

Bridal sessions frequently have differing definitions in the wedding industry. While some professionals view them as being a session with just the bride, others definite bridal sessions as another opportunity for the couple to put their wedding attire back on for some post-wedding photos. For the point of this blog, I’m talking about the latter.

It’s true what everyone says. Your wedding day really does fly by. While you certainly can arrange your wedding day timeline however best fits your schedule, wedding days are overwhelming. Bridal sessions give you and your spouse a chance to relive all the warm moments from your wedding day, without feeling rushed. Plus, it’s just the two of you… and that’s something to cherish.

Tips for a Honeymoon Bridal Session

Planning your bridal session during your honeymoon isn’t too complicated, with proper preparation in place. Be sure to reach out in advance to a photographer in your destination’s location. Depending on where you are honeymooning, permits may need to be acquired.

Traveling with wedding attire isn’t as difficult as it’s made out to be. Couples around the world travel with their big dresses, pressed suits, and wedding details. But it can definitely be an overwhelming thought! Here are some tips to alleviate the stress of traveling with your wedding attire:

  • Plan ahead. If you’re flying with your wedding gown, make sure your dress fits the airline’s carry-on requirements.
  • Pack Carefully. If you’d rather not carry your garment bag, it is absolutely possible to pack your wedding dress in your carry-on. Experts suggest ensuring there is a waterproof layer (like plastic) to prevent any spilled liquids from making their way onto your dress. The same goes for your groom’s attire! Bonus tip: Make sure there’s a steamer wherever your destination is (or pack one).
