The best way to describe Sara and Denver’s Glacier National Park easygoing elopement at Two Medicine would be “wholesome.” From the second their inquiry came in, I knew we would be the perfect match. Sara and Denver were planning a Montana elopement, but were flexible with location. They knew they wanted their day to be focused around their marriage and becoming one, together with God. I was hooked on these Kentucky cuties from day 1, I couldn’t wait to document their Christ-centered elopement.
Throughout my time as a Montana elopement photographer, I have been so incredibly blessed to hear so many unique and touching love stories. Sara and Denver’s love story is no exception; you couldn’t write a more “right time, right place” kinda love story! Sara, a registered nurse, was caring for Denver’s grandmother while she was hospitalized. It was then that Denver’s mom swooped in and played the role of match-maker…and the rest is history! Sara recalls that she knew from the second she met Denver that they would get married. Every time I think about their story, I can’t help but to choke up. But I’ll try to hold it together while I gush about their picturesque elopement in Glacier National Park.
When a couple first fills out an inquiry form, one of the questions I ask is “what is your favorite adventure you two have been on?” Sara and Denver had roadtripped from Kentucky to Washington state, where Sara had a travel nursing contract. On their way back to Kentucky, they drove through Montana and fell in love with it. In that moment, driving through the mountains, taking in the rolling hills, sharp peaks, and endless sky, they knew that was where they wanted to say “I do”. Flash forward just one year, and they tied the knot under that same endless sky. Such a full circle moment!
I’m always astonished by the creativity and intentionality that each couple pours into their wedding day. For Sara and Denver, it was all about embracing the slow moments and being fully present. And what better way to kick off your wedding day than pancakes and slow dancing in the kitchen? Sara and Denver’s wedding day breakfast marked the first time I wiped tears from my eyes during my time with them. Their slow morning continued with copying their vows into their vow books. Denver sat on the porch, while Sara cozied up in the living room. Witnessing them pouring their hearts out, and spending time with the Lord was such a beautiful reminder of the foundations of a solid marriage.
Sara and Denver spent time getting ready in separate rooms at their Whitefish vacation rental before sharing a joyful first look outside. It was then time to make the drive to Glacier National Park for their ceremony. We had some time to stop along the way for scenic views and bridal portraits before making our way down to the Two Medicine area. While Sara and Denver had never been to Glacier National Park before, they loved the photos they saw on my Instagram from Two Medicine — especially Pray Lake. They fell in love with the mountain views, and it was the perfect setting for them to tie the knot. Sara and Denver’s private vow exchange marked maybe the 6th time I cried during their easygoing elopement… no shame LOL. Before perching up on a picnic blanket to sip wine and share cake (which they made themselves), they partook in a foot washing ceremony. It was such a wholesome way to wrap up their easygoing elopement at Two Medicine, and honor their love for Jesus.
But our time together wasn’t quite over yet! The next afternoon, we met back up in Glacier National Park for some dreamy newlywed portraits. Sara wore a stunning floral midi-dress, which couldn’t have been more perfect for frolicking through the towering pine trees. Denver wore tan slacks, white button up, and an evergreen tie. These newlyweds were so proud to wear the titles of Mr. and Mrs. and it showed. Before we knew it though, Sara and Denver’s Glacier National Park easygoing elopement came to a close — but not before hot cocoa and s’mores back at their cabin! Sara and Denver put their comfy matching sweats on, grabbed their Bibles, and cozied up with a bonfire.
It will never cease to amaze me just how lucky I am to celebrate alongside couples on the happiest days of their lives. Documenting Sara and Denver’s intentional, Christ-centered elopement was such an honor.
