If you have ever wanted to visit Glacier National Park but aren’t keen on the large crowds that summertime brings, this is your sign to embrace Winter in Northwest Montana. Caitlin and Nick hopped on a flight from Iowa and were spoiled with the most breathtaking snowcapped mountains for their Glacier National Park Winter engagement session at Lake McDonald. If their mountain engagement photos don’t convince you to hop on your own flight to Montana, I don’t know what would!
Whenever I receive an inquiry from a name I recognize, I’m always blown away (and overjoyed.) Caitlin and I grew up knowing each other in high school, attending rival schools. After high school, I took her family photos as I was just kicking off my business. So when she popped up in my inbox, it felt like a blast from the past! But let’s be honest, you’re not interested in how I know Caitlin — you’re interested in Caitlin and Nick’s story. As man of the best love stories begin, these two have known each other for a few years. Nick is actually best friends with one of Caitlin’s cousins. And as they say, the rest is history!
As a Montana elopement photographer (with a passion for exploring), I always love to connect with my couples by asking what their favorite adventure together has been. Last Spring, Caitlin and Nick traveled to Utah with Nick’s family to hit up all the national parks in the area. So it was no wonder they were stoked to visit Glacier National Park for their engagement photos! Because this duo is busy working in their individual careers, they had to make a quick weekend trip for their session. After a DAY’S worth of flight delays, Caitlin and Nick arrived in Kalispell. Caitlin had to get ready in the rental car on their drive to Glacier National Park in order to make it on time. But it’s safe to say it was absolutely worth it.
When these Midwestern cuties arrived for their Winter engagement session at Lake McDonald, the water was perfectly calm and the sun was shining. The brilliant blue sky created the most magical reflections off the water of the snow-covered mountains. As Caitlin and Nick strolled along the shore hand-in-hand, I couldn’t help but to gush over how perfect they looked in their first outfits. Caitlin wore a chunky white cardigan, black top, jeans, and white boots. Nick wore gray slacks and a cozy quarter-zip. But their second outfits paired with an epic alpenglow stole the show!
For their second outfits, they leaned into a more elevated look with Caitlin wearing a black body-con dress and Nick wearing a gray quarter-zip and black slacks. The chic color palette against the cotton-candy skies was perfect. While Caitlin and Nick took in the sunset along Lake McDonald, I realized just how peaceful the atmosphere was (especially compared to the hustle and bustle of summer elopements!)
A more perfect evening couldn’t have existed for Caitlin and Nick’s Glacier National Park Winter engagement session at Lake McDonald. Experiencing such tranquility and magic alongside these two got me so excited for the wedding and elopement season coming. I am so dang lucky to get to document love stories, and I will never stop talking about exactly that. Uffda.
