Hungry Horse Elopement in Northwest Montana

November 20, 2025

Intimate wedding ceremony at Hungry Horse in Northwest Montana

There is something so special about a couple who knows exactly what they want out of their wedding day. Whether that be a day full of frills or a day that is more simple. When Andrea and Mack came my way, they knew exactly that they envisioned for their Hungry Horse elopement in Northwest Montana. They envisioned unique accommodations, private vows, an easy-going day, and a picturesque picnic. Planning their intentional elopement was a breeze, and even sweeter to capture.

Hungry Horse Elopement | Northwest Montana Wedding

Andrea and Mack traveled all the way from Kentucky for their Northwest Montana nuptials. Their wedding day began at the North Forty in a glamping yurt. Andrea slipped into her flowing lace dress before floating out to the trail to share a first look with her groom. The only way to accurately describe how Andrea looked beneath the towering pines as Mack gazed upon her would be “enchanting” — which was exactly how the couple hoped their day would feel.

As soon as the couple soaked up a few moments together during their first look, we then made the short drive from Columbia Falls to Hungry Horse Reservoir just outside Glacier National Park. The sunlight over the water was absolutely unbelievable. Spoiler alert: I’m always blown away by the turquoise blue waters in Northwest Montana. But I was not prepared for just how vibrant the water was on this day. Andrea and Mack exchanged their heartfelt vows in the sunshine along the shore before taking newlywed portraits.

After enjoying the sunshine and endless views, we headed into the forest where a table was draped in linens and lined with taper candles, lamps, and bud vases. But the real star of the show? The mouth-watering charcuterie board and desserts just waiting for the couple to devour. I’ve worked with Crave Charcuterie several times, and they always absolutely DELIVER on their boards. Perched along Hungry Horse, it was the perfect setting to enjoy an afternoon picnic in the woods.

Getting Married in Glacier National Park

Once the newlyweds’ bellies were full, we drove into Glacier National Park for a late afternoon and early evening tour. Our first stop was at Big Bend for some iconic bridal portraits overlooking the dramatic vistas of the Lake McDonald Valley. We then headed up to a look out on Going to the Sun Road. The sun had just started to dip below the towering peaks. After catching some golden sunshine at Sun Point, we headed to our final stop at Logan Pass. We were treated by big horn sheep frolicking in the grass, giving us the perfect wildlife viewing opportunity.

Seeing Andrea and Mack’s Hungry Horse elopement in Northwest Montana come to life exactly as they envisioned was such a sweet reward after planning and documenting their best moments of the day. From their heartfelt vows to the most picturesque picnic in the forest, their day couldn’t have been more intentional.
