Anna and Colton’s intimate Minnesota lakeside cabin wedding was absolutely perfect for this outdoorsy couple. Intimate weddings and elopements have such a soft place in my heart, so I couldn’t have felt more honored to have been able to capture their wedding day. And when couples incorporate their personalities and hobbies into their day?! Even better.
Anna and Colton decided to really embrace not only their location for their wedding, but also embrace their time with their families. Growing up, they both loved to spend time on the lake, so it only made sense to gather their friends and family at a summer camp-style resort (Hanging Horn Lakeside Resort) to celebrate their love. The day before their wedding, Anna and Colton celebrated with a family lake day and an intimate canoe ride around the lake. They continued to lean into their love of the outdoors by having their first look, exchanging of gifts, and private vows surrounded by hundreds of luscious, vibrant ferns. When I say this location took my breath away… I’m not lying.
Their ceremony took place deep within the forest overlooking the lake. I don’t think their space could’ve been anymore perfect for this couple. After the “I do’s” were said, we took advantage of the sunshine gleaming off the lake as we wandered down to the dock. We were even able to snap a few photos of them in the canoe – which was such a special way for them to remember their wedding weekend.
My favorite part of pretty much any intimate wedding or elopement is getting to witness a couple doin’ their own thing. Anna and Colton’s family and friends were full of so much joy and celebration for the newlyweds – which was so infectious. Their intimate Minnesota lakeside cabin wedding was the most perfect testament to this couple.
My biggest encouragement to any couple planning a wedding (whether big or small), is to remember that the day is about you and your person. Go for that canoe ride, have your morning coffee together, have a bonfire and s’mores.
