Sam and Trever’s small, intimate, backyard wedding in Northern Minnesota.

This small wedding in Northern Minnesota among the pines was nothing short of perfect. Each detail of this day? Planned perfectly. From the cute succulents as favors to the sparkler exit, the hot, humid day turned out to be personalized and unique.

Sam and Trevor wanted to keep their wedding small and intimate, with only their closest friends and family present. They got ready together in Sam’s father’s home, and enjoyed each others company before heading out into the humid weather to say their vows. Handwritten and personal, the vows left no dry eye among the guests as Sam wiped Trever’s tears away.

As the bride and groom walked back down the aisle, guests threw biodegradable confetti (here’s a brand some of my brides have used) and cheered as they were announced husband and wife. On the topic of confetti, I am going to be honest: I hate it. Although it says biodegradable, I strictly practice Leave No Trace principles, and even if it is supposedly “okay,” I think that it is still more ethical to forgo the confetti and try something else, like leaves!

My favorite part about this day was that Sam and Trever were intentional with their time and activities. As soon as the ceremony concluded, they made sure to take time for photos and time alone. This is definitely a perk of having a small wedding; less guests to please and more time to do what YOU want to do!

After the main events concluded, we faked a sparkler exit so that they could get back to the celebration. Such a beautiful intimate, small wedding day amongst the pine trees!
