A friend recently told me that Western-style weddings and elopements “fit me”. And I can’t really say I disagree! As a Montana elopement and intimate wedding photographer, I love the Western “cowboy” vibes that encapsulate the area. I was elated when Kristen and Carter inquired with a solid vision for their 1913 Ranger Station boho Western Elopement.
I love exploring Glacier National Park with couples who are experiencing it for the first time. Kristen and Carter were no exception! We were spoiled with an unseasonably warm early-October day spent taking in the iconic mountain views of Northwest Montana. Eloping in a destination completely “new” to them was important. Glacier National Park was a place that they felt they could return to year after year to reminisce and explore.
Kristen and Carter’s Fall elopement began with getting ready separately at a vacation rental in Bigfork, Montana. Once Kristen’s turquoise jewelry and wedding attire were in place, we hopped in the car to head to Belton Stage Park for the first look. When we arrived to the park, Carter was eagerly awaiting his bride. With a tap on the shoulder, Carter finally turned to see his beautiful bride. After wiping away some tears, we made our way to Glacier National Park for some bridal portraits. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky as Kristen and Carter strolled through the fields of dried up wildflowers.
We were welcomed to the St. Mary District 1913 Ranger Station with exactly what Carter had envisioned for their ceremony. The dried pasturelands surrounded by dramatic mountains created the most picturesque landscape. Kristen and Carter exchanged heartfelt vows beneath the warm sunshine. After it was official, they shared a bourbon toast before their first dance. I’m convinced that a more perfect location for their Western elopement simply couldn’t have existed. Before parting ways, we snapped some sunset portraits in the company of some mountain goats and a sky full of orange, pinks, and purples.
Kristen and Carter’s 1913 Ranger Station boho western elopement was the perfect way to kiss summer goodbye. Every little element from Kristen’s turquoise details to the bourbon toast was kismet. Watching Kristen and Carter’s vision come to life was heartwarming.
