If you’ve been a loyal reader of the Sydney Breann Blog, you’ll know just how much I treasure capturing love stories — especially on behalf of my friends and family. But this featured wedding is one that I hold very close to my heart, because my sister got married! I had the fun opportunity to take off my “Montana Elopement Photographer” hat, and don several other hats. My sister’s timeless late summer wedding in the Midwest was tailored perfectly to her vision. And I couldn’t be more excited to finally share her stunning wedding day! (Oh, and to have another brother-in-law! 😉)
As a Montana elopement photographer and planner, my life pretty much revolves around celebrating madly in-love couples and helping make their dreams come to life. Putting my skills to work as my sister’s matron of honor came in handy. From hashing out timeline details, to designing florals, and even editing the wedding photos, there’s nobody else I’d rather stand beside on their wedding day. Seeing every little detail come to life was pure magic. Celebrating alongside Taylor, Sam, and their favorite people made all the travel, FaceTime sessions, and late nights worth it.
Nothing screams “wedding morning” like sipping mimosas alongside your ladies, amiright?! Taylor and Sam’s La Pointe Events wedding day began with the gals getting glammed in matching satin ruffle pajamas. Of the two of us, Taylor is definitely the “girly girl”, but I was pretty stoked about the cute getting ready outfits. As we all buzzed about the bridal suite, I was in awe at just how calm Taylor was. Up until that point, I had done a decent job at keeping my emotions in check. But watching my mom zip Taylor’s dress was more emotional than I anticipated!
While Sam patiently waited for his bride in a grove of towering pines, Taylor floated towards him, her sparkly tulle train tailing gracefully behind. Taylor’s dress was a stunning sparkly tulle a-line gown with a square neck, lace bodice, and tulle bows on the shoulders. While my sweet Associate (and dear friend) photographed Taylor and Sam’s first look, it’s so fun to look back on their moments from the day. They exchanged private vows and gifts beneath the pines before snapping a few bridal portraits.
Formal wedding portraits kicked off with the groomsmen. In keeping with the black and white wedding color scheme, the groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos. The reflections of the property’s lush greenery in the windows were the perfect burst of color to complement the black accents. The bridesmaids wore black mismatched gowns, complete with baby’s breath bouquets and white trailing bows. Taylor’s bridal bouquet was abundant with plump white ranunculus and white roses. One of my favorite photos from the day is of Tay, surrounded by bridesmaids’ bouquets and her bridal bouquet. It truly encapsulated her vision of a timeless wedding day.
Before the outdoor wedding ceremony commenced, Taylor and Sam were able to take some photos with Stella (their “doodle-daughter”). Beneath overcast skies, the wedding ceremony began overlooking the Apple River. As if God Himself was pulling back the curtains on the cloud cover, the sun shone down just as Taylor and Sam sealed their marriage with a kiss! If I hadn’t been there myself, I probably wouldn’t have believed it! Through sounds of joyful applause, Taylor and Sam made their way back down the aisle to get the party started.
While guests sipped cocktails in the courtyard (my 90-year-old grandma double-fisting included), the reception space waited patiently inside. Banquet tables were lined with black satin runners, bud vases, and pillar candles. Clear plates rimmed with black accents sat beneath classic place settings. The head table featured a cascade of baby’s breath, white ranunculus, and white roses. Guests trickled into the reception space before the wedding party made their entrance. After heartfelt speeches (I ate, by the way), the newlyweds headed outside for bridal portraits among the pines. If this wasn’t the most romantic wedding I’ve witnessed, I don’t know what was!
Taylor and Sam’s night ended exactly as it should: on the dance floor. With Taylor rocking an iconic satin cocktail dress and high-top Converse, the newlyweds celebrated with their loved ones until the very last song. This timeless late summer wedding in the Midwest was the best reason to come home—one I’ll cherish forever.
