Isn’t there just something so wholesome about becoming friends with perfect strangers? As a Montana elopement photographer, I’m always so grateful to form such sweet friendships with my couples. But when a camping trip to Grand Teton National Park with my husband and pup ended in a connection with a random couple, it felt even more kismet. Photographing Bronwynne and Craig’s late summer engagement session in the Tetons was the perfect way to celebrate a new friendship.

Back in May, Ethan, Hatcher, and I headed to the Tetons for an elopement. We set up our camp just outside the park at a dispersed campground (where there are no designated sites, you just find an open spot). As luck would have it, we ended up camping next to Bronwynne, Craig, and their 3 pups. To no surprise, Hatcher became instant friends with their pups as we camped next to them for 2 nights. As we were sitting around the fire one night, Bronwynne and Craig told us that they were also engaged in Alaska (peep my own engagement story here).
Flash forward to August when I was back in Grand Teton National Park for another session — I went out on a limb and reached out to Bronwynne and Craig about taking their engagement photos while I was in the area. After learning our calendars lined up, I was so stoked to photograph their engagement session in the Tetons. In keeping with “tradition”, we camped at the same campground with all the dogs to hangout for the weekend.

We kicked off Bronwynne and Craig’s late summer engagement session in the Tetons at the campground with the dogs. We frolicked around in the open fields of gold while the mountains peeked out beyond evening haze. After wrapping up with the smiliest puppies, we headed into Grand Teton National Park to soak up the last few moments of daylight. First, we stopped at Glacier View Turnout for views of snowcapped mountains and more sprawling fields of gold. The deep belly laughter emanating from this sweet couple truly warmed my heart, and made the whole experience even better.
After the sun had dipped beyond the mountaintops, we made one final stop at Schwabacher’s Landing. The sunset reflecting off the Snake River, winding through the tall grass and late Summer wildflowers felt like a postcard. It was the perfect way to conclude my time in the Tetons with new friends. And you can already bet that we are looking forward to the next time our paths cross.
