Believe it or not, winter in Northwest Montana is quite dreamy. While this past winter was definitely an exception for the usual plethora of snow we get, it still felt like a winter wonderland at least a few times throughout the cold months. Capturing Hannah and TJ’s magical winter elopement in Whitefish, Montana absolutely filled my cup — especially as I was longing for fresh, untouched snow in the mountains.
Magical Winter Elopement | Whitefish, Montana Wedding
Hannah and TJ’s love story is a modern day classic. He slid into her DMs, she neglected to reply. A couple years later, they met at a birthday party. The next day, he asked her on a date and the rest is history! After being engaged for a couple years, this sweet Tennessee couple set their sights on eloping in Glacier National Park. Because TJ is a farmer, winter was the best time for them to get away and head to the mountains. Ten of their loved ones joined them for their adventure, and it was such a sweet celebration!
After spending the morning getting ready at Glacier Beauty Company, Hannah returned back to the couple’s Whitefish vacation rental to get dressed. While getting ready, she was able to FaceTime with her siblings and share in the special moment, despite them being 1,900 miles away. Once Hannah was dressed to the 9s, she shared a first look with her dad before walking down the “aisle”. On the vacation rental’s deck, Hannah and TJ said “I do” while their loved ones lovingly looked on. The snowy deck, the blankets of snow covering the mountains and evergreens… truly magical.

Once the ceremony was finished, we took group photos before heading inside for some snacks, champagne, and cake. Before departing to Glacier National Park, the bride requested a detail photo with little cowboy boots that belonged to her little brother who had passed away of cancer as a little boy. It was such a special way to honor him and include him in his sister’s wedding day.
The newlyweds and I then made the drive to Apgar Village on Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park. A heavy mist hung over the lake as tiny snowflakes floated down from the sky. Hannah wore a beautiful faux fur coat, lined with a western horse print. She looked like an absolute vision — such a gorgeous winter bride! Despite it being January, Hannah and TJ didn’t let the cold bother them at all. We then made our way to Belton Bridge to conclude our time together. Belton Bridge is one of my favorite locations for dramatic winter bridal portraits near the park, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. It was the perfect way to wrap up Hannah and TJ’s magical winter elopement.
