What would a late fall elopement in Glacier National Park be without brilliant foliage and rain?! Mackenzie and Zack traveled all the way from Ohio to Northwest Montana with a handful of their loved ones to celebrate their nuptials. Despite a day full of rain, this sweet couple made the most of the showers. Mackenzie and Zack’s rainy fall elopement at Hungry Horse Reservoir couldn’t have been more breathtaking.

Rainy Fall Elopement | Hungry Horse Reservoir Wedding
Mackenzie and Zack’s wedding day began at their Whitefish hotel before we headed to the Hungry Horse Reservoir. We ended up waiting for a heavy shower to pass through when we arrived to the reservoir, but once it passed, Mackenzie and Zack shared their first look overlooking the water. For it being November 1st, we still had plenty of golden aspens to swoon over, while snowcapped mountains hovered along the horizon.
While the rain continued to come down, Mackenzie and Zack perched along the shore of the Hungry Horse Reservoir to exchange their vows while their loved ones huddled under clear umbrellas. It was such a wholesome moment to witness — just two people in love saying “I do” in such a breathtaking area, surrounded by those who meant the most to them. After Zack and Mackenzie were officially “Mr. and Mrs.”, we took group photos along the shore before the couple’s crew headed off on their own adventure.
The rest of the day was spent embracing the rain as we explored the Hungry Horse Reservoir and surrounding areas. A thick mist hung over the water, making everything appear just a bit moodier (which I loved). We were able to escape the rain for a bit by heading into the deep forest for some even moodier bridal portraits before emerging back on the shores. Despite being soggy all day long, Mackenzie and Zack’s rainy fall elopement at Hungry Horse Reservoir was as beautiful and ethereal as they come.

Before parting ways, we met up with the couple’s loved ones at Belton Stage State Park for a few more group photos and bridal portraits. If you’re an avid reader of the blog, you’ll know that Belton Stage is one of my favorite places to take couples. Between the beautiful bridge and the unreal landscape, the area never disappoints! Truly the best way to wrap up the day with Mackenzie and Zack.
