It’s that time of year again when the ground is blanketed in fluffy snow, the air is frigid, and the last thing you want to do is take pictures as your eyes begin to water from the bitter cold. Although I’m a big Winter kinda gal, I’m also a sucker for a cozy indoor engagement session. Captured by team member Emmie, Courtney and Samuel’s cozy coffee shop engagement session gave me all the inspiration for why you need an indoor session in your life! So if you’ve been toying around with the idea, the outdoors aren’t really your vibe, or you’d like to put a twist on your engagement session, look no further.
Indoor engagement sessions or couples sessions allow you and your honey to get cozier and cuddle up. While you can certainly create a similar atmosphere in the outdoors with blankets or a set, it’s far easier to do so inside. If you’re looking to achieve that vibe, I recommend your home, a coffee shop, a brewery, or even an Airbnb. Photo studios can also achieve this look, but may come off a bit colder without a set.
I don’t know about you, but my fiancé and I love to explore new breweries. And the idea of having a moment like that captured sounds so fun! Think of what you and your person like to do together and work that into your session. Not only will you get some really unique photos out of the deal, but you also get to go on one of your favorite dates. Win-win!
Indoor engagement sessions really allow couples to be able to capture a specific location that means a lot to them. As much as I adore the mountains and the epic landscape shots, there’s something so intimate about capturing a couple at their favorite Sunday-morning-café. Or the bar where they had their first date. Man… I just love love.
You know the joy that spreads across your partner’s face when they take their first sip of a cold beer or a warm cup of coffee? Well, imagine having that moment captured. Opting for an indoor engagement session allows your photographer (hopefully, me 😉) to capture those little, authentic moments for a lifetime. And let’s be honest… your love for one another is really elevated when you’re doing something that you both love.
It’s safe to say that this is probably the most popular reason to have an indoor engagement session. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love frolicking in the snow, because it’s one of my favorite things in this world. Some of my favorite sessions have began with battling the icy wind, and ended at a dive bar. So if you’re looking for the best of both worlds, you can always start your session outside and wrap it up inside! Because, let’s be honest, sometimes you just need to embrace and then escape old man winter.
No matter what kind of vibe you’re hoping to create for your engagement photos, I sincerely hope you love this cozy coffee shop engagement session as much as I do.
