If you’ve been an avid supporter of Sydney Breann Photography for awhile, you already know how much I adore documenting love stories and becoming friends with my clients. So you can imagine just how much my heart swells to document love stories of my current friends; it puts me over! Photographing Emmie and Collin’s late summer engagement session at Logan Pass was an absolute joy. We couldn’t have asked for a more magical evening in the warm sunshine, surrounded by snow-capped mountains.
I’ve known Emmie for years at this point; we both went to college in Duluth, Minnesota (where she now resides and is a photographer herself!). Throughout our friendship, she even joined the Sydney Breann Photography team as a truly valued associate. She would photograph sessions on dates that I was already booked, which helped me serve even more clients! Flash forward a couple years, I no longer have a team of associates, as I now only take as many weddings and elopements as I have the capacity for. But Emmie is still such a treasured and talented friend of mine.
Emmie and Collin’s love story has the bones of a classic high school romance, but with so many sweet additions to it. This sweet couple met during their senior year of high school, and did the whole “long distance” thing as they attended separate schools. The distance continued as Collin went to school in Minneapolis, and Emmie headed to Duluth. But the story gets real cute when they both decided to study abroad in Ireland. Not too long into their studies, Covid happened and sent them back to Wisconsin to quarantine together in Collin’s family’s cabin. They spent the next two years living together tucked away in the woods, continuing their love story.
After the pandemic lightened up, Emmie and Collin bought their own cabin up near Duluth, and added a 3rd member to their crew (their pup, Artie). Last summer, Collin proposed to Emmie at the family cabin where they had made so many memories first living together. And the rest is history! These two lovers finally tie the knot in May 2024, after nearly 8 years of being together. It’s stories like these that just proves that love prevails.
Capturing pivotal moments for madly in-love couples brings a warmth to my heart that I can’t quite describe. It’s an honor to witness the sparkle in a partner’s eyes as they marvel at their person just existing. Or the way a couples’ fingers just fit so perfectly together, designed solely for one another. Emmie and Collin’s love feels just like that to me, and I couldn’t be more thankful to get to capture those kinds of moments.
