Despite having photographed couples for the past 7+ years, I’m convinced that I will always come up short of the right words to express just how magical a session really was. And to no surprise, Shin and Sung’s whimsical evening adventure session on Going-to-the-Sun Road was no exception. Luckily, when my words fall short, the photos tell a more complete story. Capturing such a special moment for this sweet couple was a joy that is simply indescribable.
Shin and Sung traveled to Glacier National Park from opposite sides of the world for pre-wedding photos before their September wedding in Korea. This sweet couple’s love story has been 20 years in the making, as they grew up as childhood friends. For the past 4 years, Shin and Sung have endured the adventures of a transcontinental relationship. Despite Shin being in Korea, and Sung being in Georgia, they have made the most out of their situation and experienced several travels together.
In the early stages of planning this picturesque adventure session, Shin and Sung expressed that their wishes were simple. They wanted their genuine moments captured in this beautiful place. Throughout their years of travel, they wanted to really hone in on the unique terrain of Northwest Montana. They envisioned being immersed in nature, captivated by mountain views, delicate wildflowers, towering trees, and alpine lakes. It’s safe to say that they couldn’t have chosen a better place to enjoy all of the above than Glacier National Park.
Going-to-the-Sun Road is one of the most iconic roads to take when visiting Glacier National Park. With several pull offs to take in scenic views of Logan Pass, the Lake McDonald Valley, and several towering peaks to marvel over, it’s no wonder. Keeping Shin and Sung’s vision in mind, we couldn’t pass up stopping at Big Bend for wildflowers and the quintessential dramatic mountain views. With Shin and Sung in their wedding attire, I couldn’t stop marveling over the stark contrast against the rugged Montana terrain. Shin wore chic and sophisticated satin banded cuff a-line gown and a cathedral veil. Sung wore a classic black tuxedo with a black bowtie and brown loafers.
After we took in the views of Big Bend, we continued down Going-to-the-Sun Road to spend the remainder of our evening at Sun Point. Sun Point provides sweeping views above St. Mary Lake that never disappoint. I’ve never met a view in Glacier National Park that I didn’t like, but Sun Point is a magical place to take in the sunset. As the sun dips and begins its descent, warm orange hues are painted across the mountains in the East.
Shin and Sung floated in the breeze above St. Mary Lake, taking in every moment together. Shin’s veil floated effortlessly in the breeze as the sun continued to paint dreamy hues of pinks, oranges, and purples across the water below. As the evening chill began to creep in, Shin curled up in Sung’s jacket. And just like that, their whimsical evening adventure session on Going-to-the-Sun Road concluded with cotton candy skies.
Experiencing Glacier National Park alongside such a wholesome, in-love couple was an absolute joy. It warms my heart equally to know that their family and friends got to enjoy these moments through the photos displayed at their September wedding in Korea. Making friends from across the world is just beautiful, and I really love my job. That is all.
