If there’s one thing consistent about getting married in Glacier National Park, it would be just how flexible you need to be. When Erin and Cortland first planned their Spring elopement, they opted for a Sun Point ceremony. But due to the Spring rains, the road remained closed from Winter conditions and the threat of rockslides. Thankfully, Erin and Cortland handled the sudden change like champs. Their Spring elopement at Rising Sun Picnic Area Shoreline was even more beautiful than anyone could’ve imagined.

Erin and Cortland’s wedding day began on the shores of St. Mary Lake, beneath snowcapped mountains and budding greenery. Guests were dressed in pastels as they watched Erin and Cortland say, “I do!”. After their simple ceremony, we moseyed on back to the Rising Sun Picnic Area for champagne toasts and a little picnic. We then took group photos and some bridal portraits on the shoreline before beginning the latest installment of Sydney’s Safaris.
In all seriousness, we were so lucky to spot SO much wildlife in the park. Because it was still Spring, and tourists hadn’t yet flocked to the area, we were spoiled with seclusion as wildlife emerged. Throughout our time together, we spotted cute little ground squirrels, bears, moose, mountain goats, and herds of elk. Guests had the best time peering through my binoculars to spot all the wildlife Glacier National Park had to offer.
As we took in the incredible mountain views at Many Glacier Hotel, the sun peeked out from the clouds overhead. We then made our way to Many Glacier Beach where, for whatever reason, we caught the most insane reflections off Swiftcurrent Lake. The conditions were just perfect, and I still can’t believe just how lucky we were! Not to mention just how radiant Erin and Cortland were as they took in the beauty around them, strolling hand-in-hand.

We then headed to Red Eagle Trailhead for some chic newlywed portraits before stopping at a dreamy overlook. Before we knew it, our time together concluded in the best way I know: lantern portraits during blue hour. The warm glow of their lanterns beneath the hazy, moody skies overhead was such a vibe.
Documenting Erin and Cortland’s Spring elopement at Rising Sun Picnic Area Shoreline was such a sweet way to kick off “busy season”. I loved every second of showing the newlyweds and their loved ones the area, spotting wildlife, and taking in the incredible views. Have I mentioned lately how much I love my job!?
