I am a firm believer that sunrises are so much better when it’s bitter cold outside. This Lake Superior Winter Sunrise Engagement session along the North Shore of Minnesota was no exception. Shot by team member Emmie, Sarah and Nick’s session was the coldest engagement session ever shot by our team! How cold? -28 degrees. Even with an offer to reschedule, Sarah and Nick were ready to adventure on their engagement session amongst a typical Minnesota winter’s day.
This sweet couple made a weekend out of their engagement session, staying in a hotel in Duluth. They met up with Emmie at sunrise along the shore for their frozen photos. Luckily, winter outfits are always so cute! Sarah and Nick bundled up, took some breaks, and had plenty of Hand Warmers. Pro tip: never find yourself with out hand/body warmers during cold shoots. They are a game changer; your clients will thank you!
If you’ve never explored the North Shore in the winter, these photos might just convince you. The way that Lake Superior’s waves freeze as they come crashing to the shore is simply magic. As the morning sun kissed the shore, the snow and ice sparkled – but according to Emmie, the sun was not warm on this day 😅
After wrapping up their Lake Superior Winter Sunrise Engagement, there was no better way to warm up than stopping for some Bloody Mary’s and beers at a local bar. I mean, it’s happy hour somewhere, right? I am obsessed with the shots Emmie got as Sarah and Nick warmed up.
It’s truly such a blessing to have a team of associate photographers that want to serve more adventurous couples and foster community in the photography market. Capturing the authentic love stories of my clients is so important for me (and my team)!
