Mountain Engagement Session in Montana
Bozeman, Montana Mountain Engagement Session With the Most Beautiful Sunset.
Bozeman offers so many fantastic views with short, easily accessible trails. This entire engagement session was shot in two locations, and the trails were less than 1/4 mile long. There were clear parking areas and well kept trails. Bozeman’s “main street to mountain” trails run from the center of the city to the surrounding mountains. With all of its charm, Bozeman is the perfect place for engagement photos if you are an outdoor enthusiast and want an easily-accessible/beginner level hike with incredible views of both the city and the mountains.
I went scouting for locations the morning of the shoot, and then marked them with a pin in google maps on my phone *photographer tip!! I will also look for public lands on my boyfriend’s OnX Hunt app. It is such a great investment to make sure that I stay on public lands! This is especially helpful when I am traveling and shooting in areas near National Parks.
One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is scouting and shooting in new locations, so this shoot in particular was extremely exciting!
Mikaela and Zach were so kind to me, as it was my first time in Bozeman. The lovebirds made the trek to Bozeman from Billings in order to capture some mountain views and and epic sunset. We loaded up and took off for our first location, surrounded by open fields, warm light, and the most dreamy green tones. We were definitely going for the mountain-western vibe, so Mikaela dawned a hat and some amazing embellished jeans.
From there, we headed to the next trail, about 5 minutes down the road, and changed into a long dress to catch the most incredible purple and pink sunset. We made sure to stay on trail as much as possible (hello Leave No Trace). I can’t wait to shoot in some of the other amazing locations I found while scouting. She’s so cute and I love the sunset colors! I saw a sunset with those same colors during a wedding I shot in Eastern Idaho. Coincidence? I think not!! π
