What if I told you: you can make your wedding day last longer? As an elopement and intimate wedding photographer (and a recent bride myself!!), I’m no stranger to just how quickly the big day flies by. Because I’ve had the opportunity to document so many love stories throughout the years, I’ve been able to really encapsulate exactly how to make the most a wedding day. Many elopement brides (myself included), are opting to have a 2 day elopement to really make the most of their big day. So if you’re toying with the idea yourself, here’s exactly why you should have a 2 day elopement!
Why You Should Definitely Have a 2 Day Elopement
More Opportunities to Celebrate
One of the most common reasons couples opt for a 2 day elopement is truly to enjoy the best of both worlds. A 2 day elopement allows you to have one day dedicated to celebrating with your friends and family, and the other for “just the two of you”. Simply stated, you’ll have the joy of creating special moments with your loved ones while allowing space for you and your honey.
Now, you know I’ve gotta throw this one in the list of why you should have a 2 day elopement. You will have 2 whole days of photography coverage! Which means, 2 whole days of the most epic, breathtaking photos for you to cherish for a lifetime. You could plan an adventure full of horseback riding or hiking, paddling or hanging out by a fire, taking in scenic landscapes, or exploring a hidden gem together. Dream up your wildest vacation dreams, and have it all documented during your 2 day elopement.
Options, options, options. One option for a 2 day elopement is to have one “formal attire” day and one “casual attire” day. The first day can be a more “traditional” kind of wedding day, whereas the second day can be dedicated to your favorite activities. Truly, the best of both worlds.
Keeping the Adventure Going
Having a 2 day elopement opens up more opportunities to explore and soak up multiple locations. You could have a charming chapel ceremony, a romantic dinner under cover of pines and stars, and a challenging hike up the side of a majestic mountain to wrap it up. Or a cozy cabin for a casual hang out day, and a cute downtown bar on your ceremony day. Two days gives you the option to mix it up!
Inviting guests along for the ride?! If you have a small number of guests, involving them in both days can create lasting memories. A group boat ride, picnic, or chill night of yard games is a blast. The next day can be dedicated to the “formalities”; dressing up and getting married!
You’ve got nothing but time. With two days, there’s no need to rush through your elopement to make sure you get all the dreamy photos you’ve always envisioned. You can take your time, enjoy each moment, and savor the experience without the pressure of a tight schedule. A relaxing timeline for your elopement?! Yes, please!

Curious as to what some of my past couples have done for their 2 day elopement?
One day spent in a national park, the other spent exploring the surrounding areas.
One day with family, the other just for the couple.
One day adventuring in the national park with family, the other day adventuring outside of the park with just them and their dogs.
One day hanging out and doing fun activities with family, the other day a ceremony/celebration day.
One day for a ceremony, the other day for activities.
One day in their wedding attire, the other day in casual wear.
The opportunities are endless; you have the freedom to create exactly what you’ve always envisioned for your elopement!
