Does it get anymore romantic than strolling along hand-in-hand in a grassy field, dancing among the pines, and jumping in an alpine lake alongside your person? While I might be biased as a Montana elopement photographer, I’d have to say “no”… it doesn’t get much better. Every moment of Emily and William’s Lake McDonald engagement session felt like I was watching a rom-com unfold.
Adventure sessions are some of my absolute favorite ways to get to know my couples. But in that same breath, I’m always astonished at just how quickly our time together flies by. Before we know it, we’re hugging goodbye, and parting ways onto even bigger adventures. In the case of Emily and William, their dreamy Western-style engagement session was at the tail-end of one of their most exciting adventures to date. After several years of tackling long distance, they embarked on an epic roadtrip to visit 15 national parks. Their Lake McDonald engagement session was the perfect way to wrap up an monumentous chapter in their lives.
These high school sweethearts really leaned into the Western vibes of Northwest Montana with their outfits for the first portion of their adventure session. Emily wore a flowy white dress which looked effortless paired next to William’s blue button down, khaki pants, cowboy hat, and cowboy boots. Emily even donned a cowboy hat for a bit! With the rolling hills of green, towering pines, and mountains, couldn’t have looked more perfect.
After frolicking in the fields of green, we made our way to Lake McDonald where these two adventurous souls jumped off the dock into the alpine waters below. With sopping wet clothes clung to their bodies, they clamored back onto the dock to enjoy the last moments of daylight before we were spoiled with a dreamy sunset of pink and purple hues. Emily and William’s Lake McDonald engagement session was the sweetest way to spend a June day in Northwest Montana.
