Northern Minnesota will always hold such a special place in my heart. So anytime couples want to venture around Lake Superior, I’m down. Alexis and Chase’s North Shore, Minnesota winter engagement was every snow-lover’s dream, I swear. This sweet, adventurous couple knew that they wanted to celebrate their love in one of their favorite places on Earth.
If you’re familiar with the North Shore of Minnesota, you know how unpredictable and brutal the winter weather can be. Naturally, the night before Alexis and Chase’s engagement session, the area was pounded with ice and snow. But as true Northerners, no amount of snow or ice could’ve deterred us from making the trek for some epic photos. Because of the conditions, we were lucky enough to have pretty much every location to ourselves. I don’t think anyone else was as crazy as us that morning!
We met up at Split Rock Lighthouse at sunrise, with hand warmers in tow. Venturing down into the woods, we started their session along the shore of Lake Superior. Alexis was truly such a beauty (and a trooper), wearing heals and a stunning velvet dress. After taking in the beauty of the snow-covered pines, Alexis and Chase had an outfit change. And then, they brought out their puppy, Padfoot, for some cuddles. He was in his element frolicking in the snow, but was happy to be warm inside the car (with the music on, of course). After some more incredible shots, we took a quick drive to our final location – a little rocky beach along the lake. The hike down to the shore was definitely slick with the icy rocks, but 100% worth it.
I honestly cannot wait to capture Alexis and Chase’s intimate microwedding in Montana in just a few short months. Until then, you can find me reminiscing on their North Shore, Minnesota winter engagement – even though I’m ready for Spring … now!
